3 Rivers Community Foundation: Investing in Leadership and Community Growth

3RCF fuels local impact by investing in leaders, nonprofits (like LTC), and lasting philanthropy. Discover how they’re shaping a stronger future for Benton and Franklin counties.

"We create opportunities for perpetual giving in Benton and Franklin Counties to support nonprofits now and in the future,” said Abbey Cameron, Chief Executive Officer of the 3 Rivers Community Foundation.

3 Rivers Community Foundation (3RCF) began in 1999 to create a flexible and efficient method for donors to collectively support charitable needs in the region.

Over the years, the foundation has grown significantly, managing an endowment of over $10 million, which fuels its grantmaking initiatives. It actively addresses food insecurity and mental health, funds scholarships, and supports nonprofit endowments, solidifying its role as a trusted philanthropic leader.

“We are building a permanent community endowment to support our area. Money is pooled together, invested, and grown. Then, every year, we grant money to nonprofits to support the most pressing needs in our community,” said Cameron.

Building Stronger Leaders, Strengthening the Community

One of the many impactful partnerships they have nurtured is with Leadership Tri-Cities (LTC).

In 2023, 3RCF awarded a grant to Leadership Tri-Cities to support leadership development programming and enhance alum engagement. This funding helps ensure that LTC develops new leaders, supports established ones, fosters connections, and strengthens the local leadership pipeline.

3RCF has also helped start an endowment for Leadership Tri-Cities, which recently received its first significant donation from class 1-member Stephæn Harrell.

“I felt that this donation to Leadership Tri-Cities endowment fund was a great opportunity to ensure LTC lasts and continues to build a place for young, diverse leaders to grow,” said Harrel, a long-term nonprofit leader in the Tri-Cities.

Making Philanthropy Accessible and Sustainable

One of 3RCF’s core missions is to make philanthropy accessible to all through individual donations, corporate giving, or estate planning. The foundation’s diverse giving options allow donors to contribute in ways that align with their values and financial goals.

Cameron explained, “If you want to do charitable giving that outlasts you, we can help. That’s what an endowment is—invested dollars that grow and give beyond your lifetime. There are a lot of great ways to start that during your lifetime and be involved in that giving, and we can also help with many entry points to that style of giving.”

By providing flexible, donor-centered giving options, 3RCF ensures that philanthropic efforts are sustained for generations to come, benefiting organizations like Leadership Tri-Cities and many others.

A Commitment to Community Growth

Through its ongoing support for local nonprofits, 3RCF continues to uphold its commitment to community growth and development. By partnering with organizations like Leadership Tri-Cities, it is investing not just in individual leaders but in the region's collective future.

As the foundation celebrates 25 years of service, its impact is evident in the countless initiatives, organizations, and individuals it has empowered.

For those looking to contribute to lasting change in their community, 3 Rivers Community Foundation offers an opportunity to leave a meaningful legacy. Whether through endowments, donor-advised funds, or nonprofit partnerships, their work ensures that charitable giving continues to benefit the region for years.
