Meet the New Class |
Name: Jonathan Dickey
Company: City of Kennewick
Title: IT Operations & Infrastructure Supervisor
My Superpower is: Diplomacy
I was excited to meet my cohort and hoped to find people who would be willing to dive in and solve the hard problems in our organizations and our region. I have already been amazed at the sincerity, intelligence, and dynamism my classmates have brought to our conversations. I can’t wait to witness the positive impact of these leaders on our communities!
If I could meet one person, it would have to be Steve Jobs. I’m fascinated by his evolution of leadership over the course of his career. He was imperfect, but brilliant and knew it. He wasn’t afraid of change or of upholding his principles and was known for investing in the long-term plan or the right thing to do. I imagine I could have learned much from him in a single conversation.
Jonathan brings a positive, calm, and level-headed demeanor to any situation.
I’m interested in projects that bring together the limited resources of our various cities and better leverage them across our borders. Especially in our nonprofit and government sectors we could go farther with our existing resources with more collaboration and sharing. Two of my current favorite examples are the Mid-Columbia Arts Fundraiser, and the Three Rivers Community Foundation.
I can’t think of a better place than sitting and watching the Columbia River flow by at Milieu Coffeeworks on a cool, clear morning in Richland with a cappuccino in my hand.
The incredible educators in our community deserve more recognition. In our schools, dance studios, athletic stadiums, and studios, our youth are lucky to have such dedicated teachers expertly setting them up for success. They make the Tri-Cities one of the best places to raise a family.
